Meat Boat Ahoy!
First off… Chalupa is not a made up word, created by those innovative people over at Taco Bell®. It’s a real word. Spanish actually, whose origins derive directly out of Ol’ Mexico. What does it translate into? It’s generally defined as a fried tortilla shell, in the shape of a small boat, fully loaded with a double portion* of Taco Bell’s savory seasoned beef. And while we are at it… pile on some shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, a blend of three cheeses and top the whole thing off with reduced-fat sour cream and that ever popular Nacho Cheese Sauce. Quite the bounty, right? Some might go so far as to call it a “boatload of beauty”, or a “ship of savoriness” or even a “yacht of yumminess”. At Taco Bell they simply call it the “Double Chalupa”. * Double the seasoned beef as compared to the Beef Chalupa Supreme.
