IRVINE, Calif., Monday, April 18, 2016 - 'Taco Bell values the important benefits of antibiotics to both human health and animal welfare, specifically those that are important to human medicine. Since 2014, we have been working with our partners and suppliers to identify an approach to antibiotic use for food production that both maintains the benefits of and helps reduce the use of antibiotic use overall. We are able to commit today our plans to serve chicken raised without antibiotics important to human medicine (1) in all U.S. restaurants by the end of Q1, 2017.”
(1) Antibiotics important to human medicine are those defined as “critically important,” “highly important,” and “important” according to the World Health Organization’s Critically Important Antimicrobials for Human Medicine, 4th Revision, 2013.
