Introduction of Fresco
We launched the ‘Fresco Menu’ which offered 7 signature items, all under 350 Calories and 10 grams of fat.
Did You Know?
Almost any menu item can be customized as Fresco-style, which replaces mayo-based sauces, cheese, nacho cheese sauce and reduced-fat sour cream with pico de gallo freshly prepared daily. This can result in up to a 25% reduction in fat.

Launched The Cantina Bell Menu
The launch of Cantina Bell led to a 20 million pound increase in all produce offerings.

No Kid’s Meals
Announced discontinuation of kid’s meals from the menu in U.S. restaurants.

Launched Taco Bell Mobile App
Along with ordering, the app provides nutrition information to customers anywhere, at any time, plus the option to “Make it Fresco” on almost every order.
Power Menu
Introduced the Power Menu, offering high-protein meals all under 510 calories.
2015
Commitment To Simplified Ingredients
Announced the removal of artificial colors and flavors, replacing them with natural alternatives in our food. Also announced the removal of added trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, and replacing unsustainable palm oil with sustainable, RSPO-certified palm in our food.
Nutrition Calculator
Launched Nutritionix on our website; a simple tool our customers can use to customize their favorite menu item to fit their lifestyle.
Vegetarian* Certified
Became the first American Vegetarian Association QSR, featuring 13 AVA-certified menu items.

Transitioned from plastic to paper to-go bags.
Did You Know?
The AVA certified menu has a number of individual ingredients that can be customized nearly 1 million ways including: Over 30 vegetarian ingredients including reduced-fat sour cream and nacho cheese sauce. Of the 30+ vegetarian ingredients, the majority are also vegan including our rice, black beans, refried beans, and guacamole.

Building On The Sodium Reduction
By end of 2025, we’re pushing ourselves to further reduce sodium across our menu by an additional 10%, for a total of 25% reduction since 2008.

Better Beverages
Committed to offering at least 50% of our medium fountain beverages at 100 Calories and 20 grams of sugar or less by 2022.

Packaging Commitment
We aim to shift our consumer facing packaging to be recyclable, compostable, or reusable, as well as remove any intentionally added PFAS, phthalates, BPA, and add recycling and composting bins to company owned restaurants where infrastructure permits by the end of 2025.
Introduced Veggie Mode
A single-swipe feature that instantly transforms favorites from the Taco Bell menu to be entirely vegetarian, available on self-service ordering kiosks in restaurants.

Sauce packets are recycled through TerraCycle
